TATA

Support

Most things are one click on the Tata or its toolbar button. If something's off, write to us. A person reads every email.

Browser extension

How do I hide the Tata on one website?
Hover over the Tata and click the × that appears. Or click the Tata Companion button in your browser's toolbar and choose Hide on this site. To bring it back, open the toolbar button on that site and choose Show on this site.
How do I turn it off everywhere?
Click the toolbar button and switch it off. It stays off until you turn it back on. To remove it completely, uninstall it from your browser's extensions page.
Can I have a different Tata?
Yes. Open the toolbar button and click A different Tata. There are 35 to meet in the extension, and more will come. Owners of a Tata will be able to bring their own.
How do I change the language?
It follows your browser's language automatically. To choose another, open the toolbar button and pick from Language: English, Español, Português, Français, Deutsch, Italiano or 日本語.
Why is my Tata eating popcorn, wearing headphones or studying?
It reacts to the page. A video playing with sound gets popcorn, audio playing gets headphones, and a long article or a study site gets a desk. Muted autoplay previews don't count.
Which AI chats does it work with?
Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Le Chat, Meta AI and Poe. It watches the interface, never the conversation. While the AI is thinking or writing, the Tata acts it out. When the reply is ready it cheers, and when the AI needs you (an approval, or "Continue generating") it knocks. If you're on another tab, the Tata there lets you know.
Does it read my pages or my conversations?
No. On each page it checks only whether media is playing, the site's address, and roughly how long an article is. On AI chat sites it checks only whether a reply is being written, the short status labels, and approval or continue buttons. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere. See the privacy policy.
It's in the way of something.
Hide it on that site with the ×, or turn it off from the toolbar button while you work. It sits in the bottom-right corner and never blocks clicks, except on the Tata itself.

Desktop companion

How do I turn off the mischief?
Add "TATA_MISCHIEF": "0" to ~/.tata-companion/config.json and restart the companion. That stops perching, tidying windows, the volume nudge and the cursor games. To stop only the cursor heist, use "TATA_HEIST": "0".
How do I stop it or uninstall it?
To stop it, use the tray icon's Quit. To uninstall, run bin/uninstall.sh on macOS or bin\win\uninstall.ps1 on Windows. Uninstalling removes everything it installed or stored.
